With his small portable workbench, the sculptor François Pompon (1855-1933) liked to walk in the Jardin des Plantes in Paris. There he was able to watch the animals, and mold small sketches. Back in his studio, he sculpted bears, panthers, but also dogs, chickens and rabbits, simplifying the shapes to find the nature of each animal. Thus, under the visitor’s eyes of the Orsay Museum, where a large number of these sculptures are kept, the animals come to life! His sculptures have been re-interpreted by the artist Gérard Lo Monaco, and in cooperation with the RMN and the Musée d’Orsay, Vilac pays homage to this brilliant artist by making this magnificent range of wooden toys.
BASCULE OURS POMPON: Avec son petit établi portatif, le sculpteur François Pompon (1855-1933) aimait se promener au jardin des plantes à Paris. Là, il pouvait observer les animaux et modeler des petites ébauches. De retour dans son atelier il sculptait ours, panthères, mais aussi chiens, poules et lapins, simplifiant les formes pour retrouver l'essence même de chaque animal. Ses sculptures sont ré-interprétées par l'artiste Gérard Lo Monaco, et en collaboration avec la RMN et le Musée d'Orsay, Vilac rend hommage à ce brillant artiste en fabricant cette magnifique bascule Ours blanc qui trouvera sa place dans les plus beaux intérieurs.
